Who are the Christadelphians? How do they differ from
other Christian Denominations? We are a Christian denomination,
which developed in Britain and North America in the 19th century, we call
our congregations 'ecclesias'.(Click
for Christadelphian info).
There are three Christadelphian ecclesias in Bristol, these are at
Brislington,
Downend
and Horfield. We hold many classes, presentations and seminars in which we
discuss the
Bible, which we believe is the
wholly inspired word of God.
Because of our continual reading and study of the
Bible we
are very concerned with events in the
Middle
East particularly those with regard to
Israel.
We differ from the Church of England and other Christian bodies in
several ways, Some important aspects & differences of our faith are as
follows:
We believe that
Jesus Christ was the Son of God (not God in human form) and reject any
aspect of a trinity (Read
here for more info).
We don't believe in any Supernatual Being called the Devil or Satan (Read
here for more info).
We believe that the
Holy Spirit (not
Holy Ghost) was the power given by God at the time of the writing Bible
to inspire and give understanding, nobody in the world today has the holy
spirit (read
for more info).
We believe that
Baptism is essential for a believer and follower of
Jesus Christ, but strongly reject infant sprinkling/baptism (refered to
as Christening) - (read
here for more info)
We believe in the
Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the Dead, his
Ascension into Heaven and his
Future Return to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth (read
here for more info).
